While BodyArmor seems like a good option at first glance, let’s take a deeper look at some of the nutritional ingredients in BodyArmor and how they hold up compared to Greater Than.

A Deeper Look Into BodyArmor’s Added Sugar Content

It’s important to be aware of BodyArmor’s previous issues with their added sugar element.

In January of 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against BodyArmor. The allegations claimed they “marketed unlawfully fortified junk food as a healthy option for consumers.”

Their labels claim that the BodyArmor sports drinks provide “more natural” hydration than other sports drinks or water through advertisements and paid endorsements.

The complaint states that “BodyArmor is a dressed-up soda masquerading as a health drink. A single 16-ounce serving of BodyArmor has 36 grams of sugar, which is the equivalent of nine teaspoons of sugar.”

This amount of sugar exceeds the added sugar recommendation by the American Heart Association. The AHA suggests a stricter added-sugar limit to no more than 100 calories per day, which is about 24 grams (six teaspoons) of sugar for women.

However, one serving of BodyArmor is equivalent to the 36 grams of sugar (nine teaspoons) recommended for adult men.

So, is BodyArmor good for you? Some athletes may argue otherwise, but the fact remains that their drinks do contain added sugar that exceeds recommended amounts.

You don’t have to worry about this when it comes to Greater Than, which contains none of the added sugar.

Supporting your appetite to prevent overheating
Combating fatigue
Reducing the severity of hangovers
Nourishing dry skin
Helping against flu symptoms

We know how important it is to stay hydrated. That’s why we strive to help support breastfeeding moms with low breastmilk supply, suffering from muscle cramps, or dehydration with our all-natural ingredients.

Additionally, we are committed to being all-natural.

So, what sets our electrolyte drinks apart? We are a delicious and healthy alternative for you and the whole family.

    What Are Electrolytes?

Electrolytes are essential to everyone, not just athletes. So, what exactly are they? Electrolytes are essential minerals that emit an electrical charge when dissolved in water.

All of your bodily fluids contain electrolytes, and they’re vital for various reasons. Electrolytes help regulate your body’s blood chemistry, muscle action, and other processes.

Sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, zinc, and phosphorus are all examples of common electrolytes. You can get them from whole foods and drinks!

Why Is Sodium Actually Good for You?

At Greater Than, we take pride in ourselves because our drinks contain 140 mg of sodium for electrolyte balance.

Sodium is the most abundant electrolyte ion your body needs as it has a vital role in helping your cells maintain fluid balance and absorbs nutrients.

According to the CDC, the recommended intake is less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day.

Finding the balance between how much sodium you actually need is key. Too little sodium can result in hyponatremia and must be addressed, while too much sodium can result in high blood pressure.

Talk with your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns about your sodium intake.
